Propagating Freckle Plants
Scientific Name: Hypoestes Phyllostachya
Family: Acanthaceae
Life span: One Year
They are known to be a native of Madagascar in South Africa and South East Asia. This flowering plant is a family of Acanthaceae.
The life span is expected to be 1 year or longer.
It can grow up to 30 cm or 12 inches.
It is also known as the
Freckle or Polka Dot plants
which has different variety of
beautiful colours ranging from green, pink, red and white.
Although it is a 'Summer plant' known to love bright places,
the leaf quality of this plant is seemingly sensitive, that means they they love to be on a shady side when it is summer.
Direct exposure to sunlight would kill and burn the leaves.
Keeping the soil moist would be perfect and not allowing it to dehydrate as it is dampen the glow and growth of this plant.
Spraying ample amount of water daily (Summer) would be ideal. During winter water the plant once a week.
No overflooding!
I love this beautiful and colourful exotic plant and
so I am propagating the big plant (first picture on top)
I simply separate all the single plant nods
and replant it on a separate pots.
I will re-pot all of them as soon as my new pots arrived.
The journey continues 💗
